Notebook

I'm not sure if I posted any photo's of the Art Deco photobook I had a go at making.  After being inspired by watching a few vids on YouTube.

inside look..

Pretty rubbish I personally think. I nearly put the photobook on the pile for recycling! Then one night I wrote up suddenly with and idea going around in my head!

By the way am I the only crafter/artist that suffer with this? I have to keep a notebook and a pen by my bed.

Anyway. . . . My idea was to upcycle (can I call it that?) and make it into notebook holder thingie. .

This is what I came up with. .

I kepted the front pages, just removed the top and bottom also the inside flaps.

You can also see a close up look on my YouTube channel!

First Quarter

I know so far this year I have not wrote much about what I have been upto, with making cards and that...  Its mainly due to work and family life!

So I am planning to update every three months of the year. To show what I have been doing!

Januray

First month of the year Januray is time for most people to wind down after Christmas.. For me it's time to pack away my Christmas crafts, and its time to think about the year ahead!

January, is also a month of Birthday's.

I made this cute little cat theme card for a friends little girl... She loves all things to do with animals.. So I knew this was purrfect!

Also in January is my brothers birthday and a friend of his.. So I made two of the card above!

February

In February is my two aunts Birthdays... Odd thing about them two is that they share the same day. But as a few years difference between them. Plus they both love the Art Deco style cards I do...I know these to look alike.  But........ I kind of get away with it (okay now I won't as my aunts read this damn!) as one live in Canada and the other one in England!

March

At the start of March I always some how think its a month of no birthday or anniversarys... Then the second week it hits me, its one of my aunts birthday and a friend of mine...

Has you can tell I made some more of the card above.. This one I sent to one of my others aunts that lives up north!

This cute one above with the teddy bear on was the one I sent to my friend down in Devon!

I hope you all enjoyed reading my First Quarter of the year! Please let me know what you think via comment or either a TWEET or Facebook...

Wedding Anniversary (Art deco)

On the 28th December 2012 a friend of the family asked me did I have any wedding anniversary cards?   At the time I did not have any, but She didn't need the card until the middle of Feb.

So the first week of January I went to the range to re-stock up on some of my craft items!  While I was there I picked up some of the Art Deco stuff for card marking!  I had to wait til I had a day off, which was a few days later.  Before I could start working out and designing the card.

I knew wanted to make one that looked like it was a picture in a old frame and slightly tilted.
You'll know what I mean by the picture below.

Once I made the one above I then decided I wanted to have fun and have a play!
To see what other one I could make, and this is what I made!

The picture below is what I came up with.

I have known about this other 'Diamond style' card for about eight months now!  Just not had a chance to try it out until now!

Last week the friend of the family came round and bought the first one I made!
But I do have some else who is interested in the diamond style one!

Please let me know what you think? as I am on twitter @Dorsetbotanybee

Aunt's Birthday Card

At the end of February I started to plan and work out my Aunty's Birthday card.  I wanted to do a art deco style card, but at the time I could not find what I was looking for.  Until I went to Readicut, I found what I was looking for!  I made my order every think was going to plan til I had an email to say sorry we are having trouble with your order.  Later I found out they had trouble with getting stock, I ended up cancelling my order.  So back to square one I was - until I bought my fave magazine Lets Make cards . After reading the magazine cover to cover and writing down some webby sites to check out.

Working my down the list of webby site I made I came across one, that saved the day for me.  I joined and made an order up, about two days later the parcel came.... I was and still are thrilled to bits with the items I bought...  After making a cuppa tea I sat down and set to work on my Aunty's Birthday card..

I should say at this point that I could not find any art deco stuff.  I just hope she loves it still!

Anyway I got out my pastel cards plus envelopes and picked out pink. Has this is my aunts fave colour, then I pushed out the layers of the topper and the pink and black pieces to the boarded.  I then got out my double sided sticky pads, to help layer up the piece's of the topper...  Once I had finished that I then cut the pink strip along the bottom to size.  Then I stuck the topper on and the pink strip with the black one on top.  I knew I had some paper flowers so I got out a pink plus purple one and stuck them on with a pink gem stone that my aunty had bought me a while back. The last item I popped on the card was 'Happy Birthday' Not sure if you can see it very well as it is on the black strip!

Please find below picture!

I have to say I love this card, just got to work on my unlce's birthday card now! I will keep you all posted...

P.s: Please let me know what you think?
